The workshop team consists of six film makers from Germany:
Script
Miriam Thiel has worked for 12 years as cabin crew in London. Afterwards she went to the Hamburg Media School to study script writing and graduated in 2006. Her short films, which were realised during her studies, have been shown at festivals around the world. Since graduating she has worked on various film projects at the film school, taught script writing and worked in a film production company. Since 2009 she works for Ulysses Film production, which is specialising in family entertainment.
Directing
Wendla Noelle holds a degree in Media Engineering and Visual Communication. She studied filmmaking under Wim Wenders and Fatih Akin. For two years she has been working as a freelance filmmaker in the field of documentaries, corporate- and music videos. Additionally Wendla is a lecturer for Documentary Filmmaking at the SAE Institute, and at highschools.
Her feature debut film “The Chosen Ones“ screened at international film festivals and won several awards, and will be broadcasted by the German-French TV-station Arte.
At the moment she is working on her next feature film produced by Beleza Film.
In the last years she travelled around the world: She spent some time in New York City, working for film production companies, volunteered at the „Missionaries of Charity“, an orphanage in Calcutta / India, and helped out in a Burmese Refugee Camp in Thailand.
Camera
Sara Walz, 1979, born and raised in Temuco/ Chile. From 2001 to 2006 she studied „audio-visual media“ with a focus on cinematography at the Hochschule der Medien (HDM) in Stuttgart, Germany. During her studies she completed internships at the camera department of the TV station Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and the camera rental ARRI in Munich.
From 2002 she shot different student projects and independent productions like short films, documentaries, commercials and music videos. Since 2006 she works as a freelance Director of Photography for national and international productions.
Her film „The Whispering of the Trees“ participated at several international film festivals (Melbourne (MIFF), Reykjavik (RIFF), Thessaloniki, Montreal, Toulouse, London, Chile (FICV)…) and won different awards (CFF Filmpreis David, Honorary Mention in Montreal and Chile). In 2009 she was nominated for the Cinematography Award at the International Female Filmfestival Dortmund (IFFF), Germany.
Editing
Christiane Schniebel is a freelance film and video editor based in Berlin. She works for TV channels, artists and filmmakers. From 2004 to 2007 she was postproduction supervisor and in-house editor at a local TV station in Hamburg. She holds a degree in audio-visual media arts. Christiane edited “The Chosen Ones”, a documentary by Wendla Noelle. It screened at international film festivals and won several awards. A TV version was sold to German-French broadcaster Arte.
In pre-editing life, Christiane tried her hand at other careers, such as dancing/instructing dance, and restoring historic buildings. At the age of 20 she went on a 4-year journey through Greece, Egypt, Israel, the United States and Guatemala, working as a goatherd, in jewellery crafts, as an assistant to a wood sculpture artist, and living with Bedouins in the desert.
Prodution Company – Beleza Film
Jessica Landt and Falk Nagel are the producers of Beleza Film, a production company based in Hamburg and Berlin, Germany. Beleza Film produces feature films and documentary projects for the national and international market. We believe in creative teamwork and our main focus lies in the close and constant collaboration with the filmmakers.
